• Our plans to acquire property and build or renovate a building
to operate a year round clinic in Granada became a reality in May, 2002.
• The Grand opening was February 20, 2004.
• Clinic was opened for patients March 15, 2004.

Nicaragua is one of the least developed countries and has one of the highest rates of poverty, underemployment, and unemployment in Latin America.  With one of the fastest growing populations in the region and the burden of historically recent political conflict, the government is severely challenged to meet the health care needs of its population, especially the least privileged. Our yearly clinics have uncovered what the World Health Organization indicates is a serious and growing problem with diabetes in this region. Ophthalmic problems in Nicaragua are also rampant, due to the environment, poor hygiene habits, and primarily a lack of income for medical help. Each year, more and more people have shown up at our week long clinics in Granada.  Usually, long lines stretch in front of the doors of the Pediatric, Ophthalmology, OB-Gyn, and General Medicine clinics.

Many advanced health problems are seen and treated that would have been successfully taken care of in their early stages if they had occurred in the United States.

Medical equipment and facilities in Nicaragua are also minimal.  Each year a major portion of our effort has been to bring updated medical equipment and supplies to the medical professionals in the region.  All of our trips have been sanctioned by the Minister of Health of Nicaragua, and all contributions of medical supplies to the hospitals are carefully documented. The First Lady of Nicaragua and the Minister of Health have expressed their gratitude for our help.

The faces of the people we help show gratitude as well.

We are anxious to provide more.
